Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Generally speaking, Chapter 7 Bankruptcy clients can eliminate all of their unsecured debt (credit cards, medical, vehicle repossessions) with a process that lasts a few months.
However, the process is complicated. Not every client will qualify for a Chapter 7 and clients run the risk of losing some of their personal property.
Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a process by which our clients repay some or all of their debt by making monthly payments into their Chapter 13 "plan."
Chapter 13 offers a lot of flexibility that is not available in Chapter 7 cases. For example, some clients can use a Chapter 13 bankruptcy to reduce or eliminate the amount owed on a second mortgage. Additionally, some clients can reduce the interest rate or the total amount owed on a car loan.
